Street Sighting ~ Alpine A110

The second iteration of A110 is kind of like if the design team from Audi was given a BRZ to make look good. And I'll stand by that claim.

You see, since 2013 the sports coupe has largely been plagued with some sort of incestuous breeding with safety standards that has ultimately resulted in ugly looking cars. In fact 2013 was last time a coupe won car of year (Drive Magazine) and it was the BRZ/86.

2017 - VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN
2018 - HYUNDAI I30
2019 - TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID
2020 - TOYOTA RAV4 HYBRID
2021 - KIA SORENTO
2022 - KIA SPORTAGE
2023 - FORD RANGER
2024 - KIA EV 9

Based off this I would isolate the Subaru/Toyota as the last of it's kind. But not really because there is the Aston V12, f-type, Mustang, Corvette, Evora, Z-car, MX5 and aforementioned BRZ/86 but they suffer from the same styling issues. Take for example the modern crop of BMW coupes. Lets say between 2013 to 2024, some may look cool but compared to their ancestors they all look inbred. What I'm trying to say is until recently only one car manufacturer came to mind when talking car-eugenics; Porsche

Porsche continues to make good looking cars with few exceptions. I think part of this might even come down to round headlights. In a sea of aggressive LED lit headlights on unimpressive vehicles, round lights no longer look cute, they look stylish. To me they do, after all I love a bugeye rex.

So as I walked around this A110 waiting for my bus, I was very impressed with how it looked for a fairly modern car and how much it upheld the look of the original.

It inevitably gained weight, unavoidable nowadays.
