No other way 2 do it.

As we pull up to a red light Tom pipes up in the seat behind me,

"Alright block his number, we'll park it at Nonna's."

Austin sitting next to me whines "And sacrifice the wagon?"

I'm feeling the exhilaration flood through me, and instead offer we go ram-raid a JB HI-FI, knowing full well I'm returning this car.

I felt like a head. I was cosplaying as one, sorta. Sneezing the boxer around and discovering why they call the suburb Mile End, I was beginning to lose the plot and understand why everyone steals these cars. I felt like I stole it. It was a hot4 and I was making it hotter.

Matt handed me the keys and told me I would have the purest experience going alone. I immediately asked if my mates could come and while his facial expression changed he agreed. I offered him to join us but he passed it up.

Three headz in probably the fastest and most sorted car I'd ever driven. I was smiling uncontrollably.

This car is a weapon. No. It is a magnet.

I was not even close to having the kinda road needed to find tractions edge. But I did convert it from a road magnet to a cop magnet. I'm guessing Mile End is a mostly fifty kilometre speed limit area, but I swear this car doesn't do anything less than eighty.

I had admired it since it touched down in Adelaide. I knew Matt from is baby blue carby ea82 Leone sedan. I knew he'd had Impreza's and a BRZ but this was a whole different beast.

One weekend we met up so I could take some photos to document it and interview Matt. The interview never really went anywhere because Matt was torn.

The car was mint and he was in two worlds about what happens next. In some ways he was too scared to go from custodianship to ownership.

And I got it. It is a very rare and very fucking cool machine.

It is a genuine Aus delivered STI.

The iconography of Subaru Technica International is so alluring.

Like a bright light I was bug eyed for those three letters.

To back.

Iconic.

Matt offered me a drive, and as badly as I wanted too, something told me not yet. And so I captured this version of the car.

Rexy.

Time went by and then one day I got home from university and Dad asked if I could drop him at the Toyota Service Centre to pick up his car.

His car wasn't ready and so we decided to take a stroll through the used car lot to take a look at what trade-in's people had made.

I knew the car the second I laid eyes on it. I was baffled.

Inside I saw Matt and his missus sitting in an office talking and signing papers. My heart sunk. I sent him a message later asking what was happening?

He had decided to trade it in to order the last production top of the line Toyota Supra. I'd missed my chance to meet what had become one of my hero cars.

But the story wasn't over. Matt had been too slow to lodge his order and so he was back in the blue hot seat.

More time past and I was walking around the finale of All Japan Day. It was nearing the end of the day and everyone was pretty flat. As I strolled past one car and turned my head to the next, there was Matt's WRX. Him and the missus up front and three of his best mates in the back. A sedan fulla heads. I was pumped, and went over to tease em. I'd met his boys when I provided one of my mates for their indoor social soccer team. Yeah, I was doin labour hire before I even knew it.

Squatted to meet head level I said G'day to the lads. This was the way to enjoy a car, with your mates.

Chapter closed?

Not quite. I watched over Instagram as Matt started to take the car in the direction he wanted to when we first talked. Until he hit a kangaroo and somehow managed to only pring the front right fender.

This put an idea in my head. I wanted to shoot a photo of someone kicking in the fender of the otherwise immaculate Impreza. It was a conditional opportunity and so I asked Matt if he'd be game, and I'd finally cash that drive he offered. Making cool shit requires the all-star team, and so with Tom and Aus to make it happen we framed it up.

And so while I ripped the streets of my city, snapping second, cosplaying an area head I listened to the sound of the pistons punch sideways through his equal length headers, and felt what the high boost setting meant. My mates and I just laughing and grinning the whole time.

Matt this car is unreal. NEVER sell it. I cannot wait to see where you take it.

If I had my time again, I'd pump God by 3NDLES5 & CRAZYMIKE and fly this weapon through the streets of the city I have a crush on, Sydney.
