Please Consider.

I was taking a poo, and having a squiz at Facebook marketplace. A rare occurrence of successful multi-tasking that is both unhygienic and likely to cause some sort of cancer down the line. Interrupted, a mate texted me asking how my Saturday was shaping up. As I returned to Facebook, the homepage served up something attention grabbing. I was getting an idea of what my Sat might look like.

So I picked up Sam, without really explaining what a Magna was, mostly because if he knew he wouldn't have come. And then using that train of thought, I forced Ziggy to come and ensure someone would counter my upbeat energy. All-in-all it was great fun and we had a killa time.

Initially I could feel Sam's distress as we parked in a dirt carpark comprised of beat up Commodores, Magna's and 3eighties. I had to explain this was not the display. And so heading inside the former Tonsley assembly plant our excitement picked up massively.

Now I'll do my standard little preface - there were enough journalists cruising around doing media coverage, and photographers taking schmick pics. As a result I decided to take a "finer details" approach and try carve out my observational niche.

Special mention to all the volunteers & enthusiasts that made this possible. You really are the best. Please don't come after me for talking smack about your cars.

The turnout was tremendous and the variety fantastic.

It was certainly interesting to grasp that the we had a car industry not that long ago.

There was alot to take in; practical wagons, family sedans, tuner machines, rally cars, straight up survivors, and special editions.

Those who make noise often get the most attention and Loud 1 was no exception.

However, in the end there were too many great catches, and finding one to really zero in on was challenging. So walking a non-conventional path I made a mental note of what stood out the most to me...

Please Consider.

I was under the impression I knew a little bit about the Mitsubishi Magna, or at least enough to attend and write about em. But Please Consider caught me off guard. I don't recall Tim Ross mentioning it in the Cars That Made Australia podcast. And so as I wandered around Tonsley, from distraction to distraction I found myself thinking about the new to me marketing slogan.

Please Consider.

It just came off as desperate. Playing into the visual of the Magna sitting on the bench as the blue team fought the red team at Bathurst. And so I went down the rabbit hole of Please Consider advertisements until I found my favourite.

The tagline really is the nail in the coffin - all context considered, Is there a Magna V6 in front of your house? Nope.

Taking a quick chance to pause and plug my Tow Rig write up HERE.

And while 'Life moves pretty fast' when I stop and look out to see a beat up smokey Magna rotting away in someones front yard, I'll wonder to myself if they considered? And then I'll consider myself grateful to all the headz that created an excellent opportunity to look back at a time I wasn't around to experience.

Thank you Magna40. In the end we chose to submit.

Never seen so many cardboard pieces under engine bays at a car show before #MAGNA40

Yep, that’s because the Tonsley Innovation District requires this for ANY car show that’s inside the facility.

That was a stipulation of using the site obviously...
Just shows a lack of brain power making that comment.
