CAR VISION

First credit goes to Zigg for bringing this to my attention, second goes to Brent Lawson for posting in the XT/XT6 Facebook group.

I'm a sucker for cool stuff and this is cool stuff so let's start at the beginning.

My mate Ziggy sent me an Instagram post of an XT6 I recognised. The car belongs to Bucky Lasek. He almost needs his own post, so to quickly summarise Lasek has been a Pro skateboarder, rallycross driver and is a devout Subaru enthusiast. Ingredients to capture my attention. Owning an XT (Vortex in Aus) I watched his XT6 car build on YouTube closely so I know his car when I see it (Custom BoxerBeauty.com stickers make it hard not to). This was different though, as it was now sporting a new set of wheels, unlike what it wore in the past.

The wheels instantly caught my attention, they are H pattern. This style of wheel is pretty damn uncommon, and outside of my own Subaru I haven't seen any in the flesh.

These were a must have wheel for my car - they were for the top trim of Subaru cars in the 1980's and truly unique to the company and the time.

So to see this new design that has roots in the old got me genuinely excited. From that post I dug the hole deeper to find out more about the company making these stylish new wheels.

They are called the Vector & made by a company called CCS

There is so much to love about the website and portfolio of work. The style, fonts, and imagery feels almost tailored to suit my brain. Like this image of an Acura Type R under a bottle brush tree...

Or this mind blowing low rider Miata...

But I'm straying too far from what I really want to type about, which is the Vector Forged. Because while it looks great on Lasek's XT6 it was these photos below that really sent my brain into overdrive;

These photos and this car have absolutely ruined me. I wanted a BRZ before but now I'm properly wounded for one.

Car headz like Neil Sheehan grew up through a peak period of inspiration when it came to modifying car style. For me though, I've never quite felt like I know what I love (truly & organically).

With influence constantly shaping my opinion, and discovering old stuff for the first time every week I tended to go a boring OEM route with my cars.

I thought I was essentially indecisive and therefore conservative. But now I feel like for the first time I really want to let someone else inspire what I want to do.

My 1985 Subaru Vortex never felt like it needed modifying, I just updressed it to look top spec and that was a unique look in its own right - one I fell in love with.

But the look of the red 86 is incredible and fuck I want it so bad. I think a silver BRZ with blue BoxerBeauty decals down the sides sitting atop these wonderfully new to the marketplace Vector Forged wheels is a vision I have to execute. Even if it means parting with my MX-5 to fund it.

The idea of adding some maturity to the image of a car that came out as I was growing up and simultaneously going for a different style sounds like a goal worth going after.
