Street Sighting ~ Chrysler Valiant Charger

It's a hard mark to pay with hayfever, but spring in Adelaide really is a nice time of the year. A bita sun during the day, cool-sometimes-still nights, and of course flowers blooming.

I had just dropped off the former girlfriends possessions, got back in the ute, and traveled about eighty metres up the road when the obvious caught my eye.

Driving past it I said to myself "Hey Charger" like the girl from the commercial. I reckon Dad would have done the same.

The Tonsley built steed still on the clock as a workhorse. I walked around and took a few photos, mostly admiring Aussie muscle still in the field.

Only a minute before, I was driving up the road listening to Sia's You've Changed on the verge of crying, now in front of me some metal on rubber and I was smiling? Sometimes I wonder if I'm an observational person or just an idiot.

Didn't wonder long, as the owner hailed me down for chat.

Andrew bought the car in 1979, since then it has been his car. He drives it. He is now one of my heroes.

"It's a young mans car" he said looking at me with a cheeky grin. Well played, I thought to myself.

"Yeah I've had alot of cross people tell me to pull it off the road and give it a resto. But it's my car you know? I use it for work."

He showed me how the boot was really practical for storing all his gear.

He was a good fella and we ended up having one of those never ending conversations my mum would have with someone at the shops. He asked if I was him, would I take it back to its former glory?

I told him "nup."

As if I had any clue I proceeded to tell him "life's too short."

He smiled and said, "Good luck mate."

We shook hands & I walked back to my aussie built hunk o' junk and spoke to myself once again, "Hey Commodore."

Didn't quite have the same ring to it.
