Engines & Coffee

Sunday was Cars & Coffee in the Vale, so I went to U Pull It insteadWhy?

For those that don't know The Fast and the Furious scene actually depicts a non-turbo 2JZ... But again, why didn’t I go to Cnc?

My mate Ziggy sent me three key messages:

Lonsdale upull listed a GS300

So 2JZ

If you're free on Sunday and want to up your upull experience I'm probably gonna get that

Lucky for Ziggy I was down to up my upull XP and decided to help pull what he referred to as Gods motor. I informed him that common consensus was the SR20 (despite so many flaws) is Gods motor. To resolve we met somewhere in the middle and were excited to extract Allah's motor.

Even Toyota Saudi Arabia took the time to tweet how good this motor is.

 Solid weather, الله أكبر.

The GS300 was actually relatively complete missing only the headlights, front bumper, exhaust headers and the stuff upull removes. Ziggy did inquire about the car at the entrance where it was explained one of the Ultra Tune businesses took some parts they needed then sold it. This was somewhat promising regarding the motors health. Maybe they just needed the face?

When Ziggy discussed pulling the engine I asked why and what it would go in?

He explained at the price we could pull it - it's better to have and not need, than need and not have. So Allah's motor was coming out even if it was to use as a coffee table.

http://www.cornerstories.auAs the weather heated up, the fuel lines starting spewing awfully close to Ziggy. Morning brew.

We also had a win when I noticed the key was actually in the boot lock, which was open when we arrived, and why it went unnoticed.

Around about this time Ziggy found the timing cover in the boot which was placed on the motor for some photography.

Christening Allah's coffee table with McCafé's unleaded 91 brew for double the deity status.

This was actually a bigger deal than we realized because it revealed the belts were done at eighty thousand-ish kilometres in 2019.

Further investigation led me to find a Tyre Power invoice for a bloke called Robert. I called the number on the invoice to no avail. Minutes later Robert called me back. He was confused. He explained that in 2019 he had sold the car and was surprised the car was now at a wrecker. The car originally lived at Brighton (near the beach). Based on the state of the rust and interior the car looked like it had been sitting for a few years which would indicate the motor is still low km. It is however, at a wrecker without crash damage which usually indicates something is wrong with the car not cost effective to repair...

ANCAP safety rating for pulling an engine with seat-belts is five stars. Stupid of me I decided last minute to leave my oil filter removal tool at home. To get to a motor mount bolt the filter needed to come off. And this filter was not having it - even with the belt spanner trick. Ziggy got a bit DIY with it but eventually I managed to get the bastard off.

No need to bring the heavy automatic transmission out.

The engine was grimy as.

Praise Allah, because shortly after getting it out Ziggs mates Kaiden and Jess arrived to help transport the donk. At this point it was about 4PM (we got there at 9AM) and I was running on an empty stomach - zero energy.

Loaded up and off to rest coffee on.

All up Ziggy spent less than $500 and left upull with the key, ignition barrel, security module, ECU, engine loom, alternator, starter and a whole 2JZ-GE. Searching locally on Facebook marketplace brings up this example:

Which makes the upull motor seem like a pretty decent deal. The real question going forward is will the motor ever run again...?
